On your device
Vesper stores the following in your browser (IndexedDB and local storage) so the site works without an account and offline:
- Your profile: name, optional full birth name, birth date, optional birth time and place, and your chosen focus areas.
- Readings you opened or saved, Ask Vesper conversations, matches you saved (including other people's birth details you entered), journal entries, intentions, and your Confidence Studio and Social Orbit progress.
- Settings such as theme, sound and 3D quality.
This data never leaves your device unless you sign in. You can download it from your Me page, or delete it there, at any time.
If you sign in
Signing in is optional. If you do, Vesper uses Google Firebase Authentication to manage your account (your email address, and your Google account name and picture if you choose Google sign-in) and Firebase Cloud Firestore to keep a copy of the data listed above, so it can sync between your devices. Each account can only read and write its own data. If you tick the box for Vesper's weekly forecast email, we store that choice and the date you made it; we never email anyone else and never share your address.
Photos and camera
Palm reading uses your camera inside your browser. The image is processed on your device, never uploaded and never saved; only the hand shape and lines you choose are kept.
Advertising
Vesper shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads and measure them, including personalised ads where you allow it. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's certified consent message, and can change their choice at any time from the "Ad choices" link on the Me page. You can learn how Google uses information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Ads are never shown on onboarding, crisis support, journal writing, the rehearsal room or the palm camera.
No other tracking
Vesper does not use any analytics beyond what AdSense and Firebase need to work, and does not sell or share personal information.
Children
Vesper is for adults aged 18 and over. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You can see, export and delete your data yourself from the Me page. Signed-in users can delete their account and every cloud copy there too (see Delete account). For anything else, including requests under data protection laws such as the GDPR, write to hello@vesper.example.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Significant changes will be shown in the app.
