In simple words
Your life path number comes from your full birth date: add up the digits and reduce them to one number (11, 22 and 33 stay as they are). It describes the road you walk in life.
Life path 9 is called "The Humanitarian". Read Gifts for your strengths and Challenges for what to work on. The worked example at the bottom shows exactly how it is calculated.
Gifts
Generosity, idealism and broad understanding. You care deeply about people and causes and inspire others through your example. Courage and determination help you fight for what is right. You tend to see the wider picture and to forgive more easily than most. Others are drawn to your warmth, your sense of justice and your willingness to help.
Challenges
You may become disillusioned when people fall short of your ideals or give so much that you neglect yourself. Letting go of the past can be difficult. Endings can feel especially heavy, and you may hold on to people or causes longer than is healthy. Remember that rest and boundaries also serve the greater good.
Life path 9 in love
You love with a big heart and may be drawn to partners who share your ideals. Compassion is your gift; remember to let a partner care for you too, and to enjoy simple closeness.
Life path 9 at work
Teaching, healing, arts, social work, advocacy and international work suit you. You do best where your work makes a difference to many people. You may change fields more than once as you search for meaningful work. Every experience adds to the wisdom you eventually share with others.
Growing as a 9
Practise letting go gracefully. Each ending makes space for the next good thing you are meant to give. When something completes, honour what it gave you before moving on. A clear ending is a gift both to yourself and to the next chapter.
How to calculate it
Reduce the month, the day and the year of birth to single digits (keeping 11, 22 and 33), then add them and reduce again. For example, 7 January 1990:
- Month 1
- Day 7
- Year 1990 → 19 → 10 → 1
- 1 + 7 + 1 = 9
